Commissioned Pieces
These paintings were custom ordered by individuals, and each is centered around a specific animal and place. Elements such as plants and color are reminiscent of the person, setting, or the experience of the process. I find immeasurable pleasure and challenges in the process of getting acquainted with my subjects, taking photos, talking to clients, and studying the history and thoughts tucked into an area or idea.
I prefer to work from my own photos, both so that I have the opportunity to meet and get to know the subject, as well as to have a variety of images to work from. This is not always possible, so I often ask for several (or, many, actually) pictures and stories so I have context and a greater understanding.
When ordering a commissioned piece, I appreciate the allowance of artistic vision to allow the piece to culminate in its entirety; each work tends to find itself in the creation. As much as I would love to work in an established pattern with a set outcome, I've come to appreciate that that is not who I am or my process. The essence of creation and allowing influence lends itself to fully grasping the subject matter.
Prices do vary, depending on the complexity, size, and photography sessions, but the following is a range of prices and sizes to be expected. The sizes are examples, and we can configure a custom size to fit a space as needed.
