Why FORM?
Lines.
Tradition.
Energy.
When I first explored making halters, I started the process of what I was going to call them. At first, I focused on place-based names, as that is my primary focus, colors based on place. Time.
And then I began to think about art and the relationship that I have with it and with the more functional version of art, my halters. Form verses function. Form and function. Lines entangling and knotting and weaving to create form. Creating shape and color relationships and story.
Just as in my art.
And so, FORM.

Halter Fit It is important that halters fit correctly for safety, comfort, and proper communication. The noseband knots should rest slightly below the facial crests (the ridges that run down alongside the horse’s face and end above the lower curve of the jaw. The throat piece should run down the groove behind the jaw bone and not lie across the cheek. The throat piece should absolutely not come down across the jowl (cheek) as it can cause damage to the horse’s facial nerves and end in facial muscle paralysis.

Halter SafetyRope halters are meant to be used in supervised circumstances. They are not recommended to be used in hauling or in turnout. The cord has a very high breaking strength. When tying the halter, the rope ends come down through the crown tie loop, behind the loop, and then between the loop and crown piece. The resulting sheet knot sits ON the crown tie loop, not above it.
